Paula Shoenberg, Outreach Services Director
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month so you will be seeing several Teal Ribbon and hashtag SAAM posts this month to create awareness for survivors of sexual assault.
We, at Family Advocates, Inc. want to continue to help survivors during this difficult time. We may not be able to meet face to face but we are all still here to help anyone who has experienced violence whether recently or in the past. Please check our Offering Services During COVID-19 sheet for advocate phone numbers and virtual support groups.
This year our annual SAAM activities will be very different as to how we are going to move forward to recognize survivors of sexual violence during this time of COVID-19. I work at the UW-Platteville campus as the Sexual Violence Victim’s Advocate and it has given me many opportunities to collaborate with Melissa Stoner, Interim Prevention and Education Coordinator, Dean of Students on live activities during the month of April in the past few years. This year Melissa and her team has come up with some virtual ways to reach students, staff and the Community of Platteville. Please check out our Sexual Assault Awareness Month webpage for more information.
Stay healthy and safe,
Paula Schoenberg
