Staff Spotlight - Kira Snyder

My name is Kira, and I am the Youth Services Advocate for Family Advocates.

First, I’d like to tell you a little bit about how I got to where I am. I graduated from UW Platteville in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. I always wanted to work with families or kids, so when this job opportunity presented itself, I jumped at the chance and was thrilled when I was hired on. I’ve been working in this position with Family Advocates for about 9 months now and have really loved every moment of it.

Next, I’d like to tell you a bit about what I do here. I work in Grant, Lafayette, and Iowa Counties and I work with kids of all ages, as well as their parents and guardians. As the Youth Advocate, I offer one-on-one and group counseling for youth and their guardians.

I advocate for and support youth and guardians in a variety of situations, including in school and in court. I help with group activities, including our summer camp and after school programs (which were unfortunately suspended for most of 2020 due to covid, but we’re looking to get those things up and running again soon! So be on the lookout for information about that.)

If you or someone you know is in need of services or support, please reach out to us. Our shelter number is 608-348-5995. Or you’re welcome to reach out to me personally; my work cell number is 608-341-6799 and my email youthadv@familyadv.org.

Thanks so much for taking the time to watch!
