"Hi, My name is Mikayla and I am the services advocate here at Family Advocates. I work in Iowa, Grant, and Layfette counties. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In order to bring awareness during this month, I wanted to explain what advocacy is.
Advocacy is one of the main foundations of our agency. For domestic violence, advocacy can take the forms of helping the victim fill out a restraining order, going with the victim to court, and providing peer-to-peer counseling for the victim.
